We have AKC Bull Terriers. They are the greatest breed ever. Life with a bully
is a never ending (and sometimes nerve wrecking)adventure. They are as unique in looks as they are in temperment.
This is a breed that lets you know exactly how they are feeling
at any cost. And sadly enough it sometimes cost's a bully it's life.Negligence is not only in the physical sense but in the
emotional sense.
A really good bully, sound in temperment, can be driven over the edge
without positive human interaction. When they act out (let you know how they feel about something, by getting into trouble,
that's when bullies end up in the pound or on the street. So if you don't think a dog can think and feel.....DONT GET A BULL
TERRIER!
A bully is an emotionally needy animal. At least our's are. That is one
of the many easons why we appreciate them.
A bully will not be ignored or put away somewhere to entertain
themselves.Well they can but they will find something to entertain themselves with.Such as digging, chewing inedible items, tail
chasing etc.
A bully is most happy to be around people and treated as a member of the family.
Most bullies have high energy levels(especialy bully pups) and need excersise regularly.
At around 6-7 years of age they usually like to retire to a sofa or chair for the most part
of the day rising only for meals and time out back to sunbathe.
One of the keys to having a happy owner and a happy bully is early and consistent discipline.
If you have a male pup and do not plan on showing and breeding him I highly reccomend that you
have him nuetured as soon as he reaches puberty.Usually around 7 months but it does vary from dog to dog.
A female pup can usually be spayed around the same age.
Getting a bull terrier is a lifetime commitment.
Make sure you do some research on the breed.Talk to breeders, vets that may have had the pleasure
of treating a bull terrier and get to a local dog show and maybe you will be lucky enough to get an up close and personal
veiw.
Now for the fun stuff.......
